As is known, DPR Chair Puan Maharani announced that her institution had received a presidential letter (surpres) containing the nomination of a candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief from President Jokowi. In its contents, the President proposes the Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa.

“The president proposes one candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief,” said Puan at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/3/2021).

Single Candidate

Andika Perkasa is the sole candidate for TNI Commander. The chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, mentioned several mechanisms that Andika must go through until the inauguration.

“The dismissal of the TNI Commander who is currently serving and the appointment of the new TNI Commander will go through various processes and stages, including the approval process by the DPR. The TNI Commander will be appointed and dismissed by the President after obtaining approval from the DPR RI,” said Puan.
