Striker Bayern Munich Robert Lewandowski made a special note after scoring a goal against Benfica. Lewandowski is on a list filled with only a handful of players.
Bayern won 5-2 over Benfica on matchday 4 Group E Champions League which was held at the Allianz Arena, Wednesday (3/11/2021) early in the morning WIB. Lewandowski scored a hat-trick in that match.
The match was also Lewandowski’s 100th appearance in the Champions League. As reported by AS, the Polish striker became the sixth player to score in his 100th appearance in the Champions League. He followed five other top players namely Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo, and Toni Kroos.
This is also Lewandowski’s fourth hat-trick in the Champions League. The 33-year-old only lost to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who both have made eight hat-tricks.
“I believe Lewy can achieve a lot, even at such a young age, because of his physique and his lifestyle and the way he lives life as a footballer,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann, as reported by AS.
“He will continue to be the best striker in the world because he is doing everything he can to stay that way,” he said.
