A BOLA – Benfica attacks FC Porto boycott of referees (Basketball)

Two days after Norberto Alves, Benfica coach, spoke out about the controversy of Portuguese basketball, calling FC Porto a “boycott” of the games being directed by referees Carlos Santos, Fernando Rocha and Paulo Marques as a “third world” , yesterday it was Benfica’s turn to stand beside their coach.

The eagles coach’s statements after the defeat against FC Porto, last Sunday, were paralleled in the cupolas of the red emblem, with the position to be disseminated through the daily bulletin of the Luz group.

“If all clubs in competition really want to value the League, they must do so constructively and let the best judges be in the most competitive matches. Boycotting referees is a third world practice and will not take the sport to better levels in Portugal», disclosed Benfica, who completed this message:

«At Sport Lisboa e Benfica we are self-demanding in relation to all the teams at the club and we know that our coach is focused on improving and correcting some collective dynamics. However, we are attentive and we cannot fail to corroborate the arguments stated by our coach Norberto Alves.”
