Tweet from Elon Musk leads to confusion over Hertz-Tesla deal | Abroad

Hertz had reported last week that an order for 100,000 cars had been placed with Tesla. Tesla’s stock skyrocketed as a result of the announcement. The same day, the electric car manufacturer was for the first time worth more than $1 trillion at the fair.

In a message on Twitter, Musk has now denied that a contract has already been signed, while also putting the importance of a possible deal into perspective. Musk stated that such orders have no impact on the company. At Tesla, demand is higher than production. For that reason, no discount would be granted to Hertz either.

The car rental company then maintains that the order was placed. “The delivery of the Teslas has already started,” it sounds Tuesday.
