From November 4, the latest romantic comedy series by director Andrejs Ēķis in six series “Perfect Weddings” will reach the audience on the entertainment platform Tet + and Helio on interactive television. The script for the series was written by writer Zane Zusta, but the author of the music is composer Rihards Zaļupe.
The series tells about a day in the life of a young couple, played by Lelde Dreimane and Kaspars Zāle. The bride’s trust is tested by the unexpected appearance of her ex-husband on the wedding day, played by the talented role master Mārtiņš Meiers. The protagonist he plays is supposedly a completely innocent wedding cameraman, whose duty it is to be present where others are denied it and to record all the important events of the day, much of which will be cut from the wedding film due to inappropriate behind-the-scenes content. The difficulty is that the bride’s feelings for the former lover have not yet fully resolved, creating intrigue throughout the series, or she will pass this test. The parents of the young couple, whose lives are dominated by their passions, will be portrayed by an outstanding ensemble of actors such as Aija Dzērve, Ivars Puga, Anna Šteina and Ģirts Krūmiņš. Daiga Kažociņa has taken the role of a rich aunt.
“The filming of the series was one of the most dynamic experiences of my directing career, which would not have been possible without a production team and professional actors who are able to concentrate a large amount of work without losing quality. I was pleased with the fact that all the actors involved, reading the script, saw the potential in the story of the series, each investing his own acting skills to make his character brighter, ”emphasizes director Andrejs Ēķis. The idea of the series was born when he himself became a wedding cameraman many times and saw how this day can develop into a gorgeous and full range of emotions. “I saw that there is a good ‘dress’ for the series or film, and together with screenwriter Zani Zusta, we also realized it.”
Apart from the romantic basic story, there will be other interesting surprises – photographer Jānis Deinats will take on the role of wedding photographer, portraying himself, musician and leader of the group “The Sound Poets” Jānis Aišpurs and hairdresser Kristaps Slakteris will take on the role, and singer Laiks will lead the wedding ceremony . Costume artist Daina Gāga-Ēķe has taken care of the actors’ visual images in the series. The series was filmed in the restored Nordeķi manor in Pārdaugava, Kuldīga and elsewhere on the Kurzeme side.
