“Too many people get sick in too short a time, and also too seriously,” says Health Minister Hugo De Jonge. “The vast majority of patients in hospitals have not been vaccinated. The inconvenient truth is that the majority of these patients would not have needed to be there if they had been vaccinated.”
“We owe it to each other to keep healthcare accessible to everyone,” says De Jonge. He is promising a number of measures if the tide does not turn and is therefore preparing an amendment to the law:
- around the corona pass in the workplace to make possible (not an obligation, but to create the possibility),
- around the coronapas also in non-essential shops, zoos and amusement parks to enter.
The Minister of Health also makes the so-called booster shot (extra shot of the corona vaccine) possible: from the beginning of December for people over 80 and care workers, thereafter for those between 60 and 80. Anyone younger than 60 will also be able to get an extra shot when everyone else has had their turn.
