Day of the Dead celebration at Green Wood Cemetery

Today there was a Day of the Dead celebration at Green Wood Cemetery in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

The objective of the event was so that the Mexican community of the area could carry out its traditional celebration of the Day of the Dead but also so that other residents learn from it.

As reported by Joaquín Torres from the cemetery itself, the holiday has had a special meaning because many neighbors have lost loved ones during the pandemic.

One of those who attended the celebration was Veronica, a young woman who lost her mother to the pandemic and her brother years before. The Day of the Dead was a time to remember and bring offerings to loved ones.
