JAKARTA – Astronauts returning to Earth cannot use the toilet in the SpaceX Dragon capsule. This is because
NASA worried about a urine bag leaking in the toilet.
Reported from Space, Monday (11/1/2021) NASA officials said that the SpaceX toilets on Crew Dragon Endeavor will be banned from use for the next four Crew-2 astronauts once they leave the International Space Station (ISS) in early November.
The reason for this is the possibility of a urine bag leaking in the toilet as seen on civil aviation Inspiration4 last September.

SpaceX has since redesigned its toilets to avoid leaks on future flights.
“Our goal is not to use the system at all for the return journey because of what we’ve seen with the fluids we’re talking about,” said Steve Stitch, manager NASA’s Commercial Crew.
The launch of the Crew-3 astronauts has been set for next week. “We have other ways to allow crews to do the activities they need,” Stitch said.
Because they could not use the toilet, the crew used another method, namely by using underwear. This ‘waste’ management tool has long been used by astronauts to urinate while wearing spacesuits during launch, landing, or space travel.
