Colorado officials say 2 children and 2 adults were killed in an apparent homicide

At least four people have died in a home in Colorado following an apparent homicide-suicide, authorities said on Sunday.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, officials were called into a house in the Colorado Springs area around 10 a.m. Saturday after reports came of someone injured on the spot and in need of help.

“When the officers entered the residence, they found two minors and two adults dead,” said the sheriff’s office.

“It felt like we were overrun,” Joe, who only gave his name, told The Gazette.

Authorities said an “inverted 911” or Everbridge had been sent to families in the community within a 2 mile radius asking them to stay inside and lock doors and windows.

It is unclear who carried out the attack or whether the victims were related. Her identity was only released after positive identification by the coroner’s office and notification of the next of kin.

There is currently no threat to the community, the sheriff’s office noted.
