It is reported that apps consume too much RAM on Macs.
This must be an Apple error
The problem also affects users with Apple’s new flagship, the MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip, the fastest of them all – in fact, all three of the flagships are from flagship owners.
The worst part is that this is a macOS error as this occurs in several apps, such as Apple’s own mail app (56.40GB), to Final Cut Pro (24.24GB).
fortunately macOS total does not crash
When an app uses so much RAM, there is not enough left for the operating system, which in turn means that you are told to quit one or more apps so as not to experience the problem.
At least it looks like the machines usually do not crash, but allow one to regain control. The problem is worse if this occurs frequently, or if you do not get saved.
9to5Mac ‘Ben Lovejoy confirms that it does not work to close the question in relation to which apps one must close, when it comes back. After a restart, the message came back, but Lovejoy could then just move the box out of sight and use the machine as normal.
