In Ukraine, most have taken the coronavirus vaccine in the capital, Kiev,
and the least in Transcarpathia and Voliny County, also in western Ukraine, Minister of Health Viktor Lyacho said at a press conference on Monday.
The head of the ministry explained that In Kiev, more than fifty percent of the adult population has already taken at least one dose of the vaccine. In this respect, Poltava County in the eastern part of the country is in second place with 40.1 percent, and Kiev County is in third place with 39.9 percent. “Some regions do not listen to the recommendations and the willingness to vaccinate is low, these include Transcarpathia and Voliny County,” the minister said.
By the way, Transcarpathia is still in the yellow classification according to the mildest epidemic situation,
And Voliny County is one more strict in orange. Of the 24 counties, 15 are already in the strictest red classification, as is the capital, Kiev. In the latter, the most stringent restrictions came into force on Monday, including the fact that public transport, including the metro, can only be used by those who are vaccinated or have a negative test. The same applies to visits to shopping malls, restaurants and sports facilities, and distance learning continues in schools.
UNIAN reported that before the entry into force of the provisions on the “red zone”, huge lines of fire stations were formed in Kiev, in several cases, those in line also fought each other. In this regard, Ljasko promised to take into account in the future the expected increase in the number of vaccinees before placing a region in the red category.
In a briefing, the minister highlighted that more than 17.7 million doses of vaccine had been administered in the country in the last week of October, more than in June as a whole. In Ukraine, with a population of about 42 million, 10.24 million have so far received at least the first dose, and almost 7.5 million of them have received both doses. The minister also reported that for six consecutive days now, the number of patients in need of hospital care is “at its peak after more than three months of steady growth”.
In Ukraine, the number of newly identified infections increased by 13,936 to 2,936,238 on Monday,
the number of deaths increased by 298 to 68,027, and that of active patients by almost eight thousand to 426,113. Last day, 3,828 patients with coronavirus and suspected infection were transported to hospital. (MTI)
