Jakarta (ANTARA) – SKK Migas reports the use of technology Gas Lift Pack Off (GLPO) has succeeded in increasing the Jabung Block’s oil production in Jambi.
SKK Migas Deputy Operations Julius Wiratno said the technology had reactivated the Marmo-1 well, a characteristic of heavy oil, which had been out of production since early 2019.
“With the implementation of the GLPO, initial production obtained is 278 barrels of oil per day (BOPD),” he said in a statement in Jakarta, Monday.
Julius explained that the successful implementation of GLPO in the Marmo-1 well had a good impact on the contribution of PetroChina Jabung Ltd (PCJL) existing production and national production.
The company then carried out a scale-up and additional programs for the other three wells that had different production challenges from the Marmo-1 well, namely SB-D6 with initial production gain 141 BOPD, WB-D15A with initial production gain 59 BOPD, and North Harvest-1 with initial production gain 554 BOPD.

Currently, GLPO technology is an alternative activity rigless which can help increase production.
The advantages of this technology include simple installation without the need to use a rig and the flexibility to place gas injection points.
Lesson learned from this activity is the willingness to try new things to see opportunities and potential for increasing production.

“The success of the technology trial at PetroChina Jabung can be a reference for other Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS),” said Julius.
SKK Migas will continue to monitor the performance of GLPO and will be evaluated to see the potential for implementation on a larger scale, so that the technology is able to contribute more optimally to production.
This GLPO technology is carried out with the following scheme: No Cure No Pay, i.e. no losses will arise if there is a failure to implement the technology because no fees are paid.
