Israel wants to defeat Iran, imitates Reagan’s move against the Soviets

TEL AVIV – Prime Minister (PM) Israel Naftali Bennett said his country is in a cold war with Iran . He wanted to defeat the Tehran regime in the same way that US President Ronald Reagan did to the Soviet Union in the past.

“We have a cold war with Iran. For the last 30 years Iran has positioned itself around us to distract us,” Bennett told Sunday Times, which was launched Monday (1/11/2021).

“The parallel is what Reagan did. Reagan didn’t have to bomb Moscow. There is a regional power called Iran and there is a regional power called Israel.”

“Iran is a rotten regime, violating human rights and killing homosexuals and women who roam around naked, while they can’t even supply clean water to their citizens, but invest their resources in nuclear development,” said PM Bennett.

Bennett warned that Iran would face very serious implications if it continued to enrich uranium.

“Israel will do whatever it takes to neutralize Tehran’s threat, including by spending state money on defense to stay one step ahead.”

Bennett’s remarks echo the widely publicized version of history pushed by conservative US historians, who claim that Reagan defeated the Soviet Union by massively building a defense budget and launching the “Star Wars” Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) to create a defense system against nuclear missiles.
