Four straight games without a win in the league game and yesterday, Sunday, Hajduk Split lost 3-2 away against second-placed Slaven Belupo. A result and a lack of form that is now said to have consequences for Hajduk’s Swedish head coach Jens Gustafsson – who may have made his last match at the club.
Croatian media have previously reported that the former IFK Norrköping coach hangs loose after Hajduk Split left the Conference League and that the team’s results in the league game have not lived up to the expectations of the sports management. Now Aftonbladet states that yesterday’s loss was the last straw and that Jens Gustafsson has been fired by the Croatian big club.
The newspaper writes that the club’s management decided to fire Gustafsson at a board meeting late on Sunday night. According to information, Valdas Dambrauskas, former coach of Ludogorets, is highly relevant to replace the Swede soon.
Hajduk’s management staff also includes Andreas Brännström, assistant coach, and Torbjörn Arvidsson, fitness coach. The team plays the Swedish midfielder Alexander Kacaniklic.
Jens Gustafsson finished for Hajduk Split this summer and then signed a two-year contract.
