TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The name of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is suspected to be in the business circle polymerase chain reaction or PCR. The November 1, 2021 edition of Tempo magazine wrote that two companies affiliated with Luhut, PT Toba Sejahtra and PT Toba Bumi Energi, are listed as holding shares in PT Genomik Solidaritas Indonesia (GSI).
PT Toba Sejahtra and PT Toba Bumi Energi pocketed 242 shares worth Rp 242 million in GSI. GSI is a company that manages laboratories for PCR tests. The company has five branches in Jakarta.
Spokesman for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jodi Mahardi, said that GSI is a form of social solidarity that helps provide large numbers of Covid-19 tests. Since GSI was founded in April 2020, he said that there has never been a distribution of profits to shareholders.
“Participation sir Luhut to help with handling at the start of the pandemic,” he said.
Luhut’s presence at GSI was also mentioned because of the invitation of his colleagues who have shares, such as officials from PT Adaro Energy and PT Indika Energy Tbk. As for the two companies suspected of being involved with Luhut, Jodi said his boss had no more control because his shares were below 10 percent.
“So we cannot comment on PT Toba Bumi Energi,” he said.
