The accident with the tourists happened yesterday late afternoon during a jeep safari in the difficult area near the town of Alta. Dozens of rescue workers were deployed to help the victims, melden media in Portugal.
Dutch child
For the French woman, help came too late. A French, German and Dutch child were seriously injured. One of them had to be removed from under the jeep and was taken to hospital by helicopter. A Dutch woman (46) and a French man (41) were also seriously injured. They are all in hospital in the city of Faro.
A 48-year-old Dutch man and the Portuguese driver of the jeep are slightly injured. It is unclear how the driver lost control of the car.
