Queen Elizabeth II, to whom doctors have recommended at least another two weeks of rest, is “in very good shape”. This was stated today on the sidelines of the Rome G20 summit by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, AFP reports.
“I spoke to Her Majesty and she is in very good shape,” he said in an interview with Britain’s Channel Four television.
According to him, the 95-year-old queen “should just follow the advice of her doctors and rest. I think the whole country is sending her good wishes,” the prime minister added.
Earlier it was announced that the British Queen will not speak in person to world leaders who will gather in Glasgow for the international climate conference COP26. Buckingham Palace informs that she can continue to perform some of her light duties during her two-week vacation, where she has the opportunity to sit behind a desk, including giving virtual audiences. However, the Queen will not make any visits.
The palace added that Elizabeth II would not attend the Remembrance Festival on November 13, but “remains determined” to attend a national memorial service a day later on Remembrance Sunday, the day Britain pays tribute to those killed in the wars.
She has not personally laid a wreath in front of their monument in London since 2017, but attended the ceremony, watching her from the balcony of the Foreign Ministry, the Times said today.
Elizabeth II is the oldest and longest reigning monarch in the world. On Wednesday last week, she spent a night in hospital for “preliminary tests” due to an unspecified malaise unrelated to COVID-19.
