TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – At least eight people in the Savannah Area in Ghana The north died from a suspected yellow fever infection, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) said on Friday evening, October 29, 2021.
The GHS said that the victims, all of whom were nomads in the region, had never been vaccinated yellow fever.
“The disease is suspected to be yellow fever and samples have been sent for final confirmation. Tests for other viral illnesses such as Ebola, Lassa, Marburg and Zika have all been negative,” GHS said.
Yellow fever is a viral disease that is spread through mosquito bites and is commonly found in parts of Africa and South America.
Signs of a person having this disease include fever and jaundice at first and then bleeding from the nose and mouth, and if severe vomiting blood.
Vaccination is the main preventive measure recommended against the disease.
