Bjørn Tomren does not unexpectedly take the victory with composure, even though he is clearly moved.

When the result became clear, he stated that he was “completely speechless”.

After the final, he has gathered enough to give some modest comments.

– Absurd, very surprising and gratifying, he says about the victory for VG after the final night of this year «Star Fight».

He also uses the opportunity to thank those who sent him all the way to the top.

– Many thanks to everyone who voted for me and Alexandra. It means a lot to me, says Bjørn Tomren.

Rotan: – Very happy

It was by no means a sad Alexandra Rotan who met VG after the final night.

She has previously participated in other music competitions, but Star Wars is something special, she believes.

– “Star Wars” is something completely different. Here I have had to grow and challenge myself in my own way. On Monday, it’s straight into the studio and writing their own songs, says an optimistic Rotan.

MIGHTY: Alexandra Rotan performed a demonstration of power of You’re the Voice by John Farham in Saturday’s finale of “Star Wars”.

– It was important to me that people did not think that I took “Star Wars” lightly. I have worked hard and grown as an artist and human being. I’m clear. I performed that song with pride today. I am very happy, she says.

– My goal was to be through all the broadcasts in Star Wars. I think this is a door opener for both of us, no matter how it went.

Tonight she’s going to celebrate anyway.

– With a glass or ten, says a laughing Rotan.

Swiss throat singing

The first piece of music from the finalists was Tomren. He went in company with his good friend Heine Bugge, known from the accordion duo Polkabjørn and Kleine Heine, and yodeled off on the Swiss folk tune Mein Vater ist ein Appenzeller.

Yodeling in the “Star Wars” final? Why not, Tomren said, delivering both laughter and applause in the hall. VG’s reviewer wheeled one five on the dice for the slightly absurd and audience-friendly yodeling session of Bjørn Tomren.

Rotan followed up by joining MGP colleagues in KeiiNo for a performance of the trio’s new song “Venus”. VG’s reviewer rolled a four, but pointed out that the performance was not as engaging as Tomre’s yodeling.

QUIET DANCE: As the last song, Tomre performed a stripped-down version of the Whitney Houston classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”

Allsang

In round two, the finalists stood on their own two feet. Tomren sang a stripped-down version of the Whitney Houston classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, to a new five on the dice.

Rotan countered with a powerful version of John Farham’s grandiose song “You’re the Voice”. It secured the evening’s first five for Eidsvollsjenta – and singing from the audience.
