Ferrocarril de Sóller has applied to the Conselleria de Transports in Mallorca to be able to interrupt the train service between Sóller and Palma from November 15, in order to be able to resume it on February 15. That would be a month more than the one that the train has been putting in the tourist doldrums for years, as it normally does not cease operations until after the long constitutional weekend at the beginning of December, only to resume on February 1st.

According to Oscar Mayol, president of the railroad company, “we will only be up for a few more weeks if we see that there are bookings, but at the moment it has been requested for the middle of this month”. The government has not yet approved this.

According to Mayol, the maintenance work “is the usual annual work, this time work on the iron overpass at the exit of Sóller station”.

In fact, in these last days of October, numerous passengers used the train to Sóller, especially as part of the excursions organized by agencies.

After several interruptions due to the pandemic and the damage from a tornado that struck the island, the technical break began on November 2nd.
