Like a Night Bath? Must Read This First!

Terkini.id – There are many myths that spread about bathing at night among the public. The myth that is most often said if someone takes a shower at night is that it causes wet lungs.

So what’s true? What is the meaning behind the myth, let’s look at the following explanation quoting from Kompascom.

When viewed from a medical point of view, the view that mentions bathing at night can cause rheumatism is not quite right.

According to dr. Handrawan Nadesul in his book Easy Recipes to Stay Healthy, published in 2009, there are dozens of causes that lead to rheumatic complaints. Of the dozens of causes, the night bath is not one of them.

According to him, a night bath can only make rheumatism recur, not the cause. That’s because a night bath with cold water can trigger changes in air pressure.

Think of the tissue around the joint as a big balloon that contains the joint. When exposed to a splash of water, it will press the body until the tissue around the joints is getting bigger. This condition can then cause the joint load to increase, causing pain.

Further, dr. Handrawan said, initially, all complaints in the joints were called rheumatism. But now developed, diseases or disorders of the muscles, bones, and nerves are also classified as rheumatism or often also referred to as gout.

Common symptoms of rheumatism include pain, stiffness in the joints, to the point of not being able to perform normal physical activities. Some of the things that cause rheumatism include increasing age, having been injured, to genetic or hereditary factors.

Night bath causes wet lungs?

Wet lungs (pleural effusion) is a condition where the pleura of the lungs is filled with a lot of fluid. The pleura itself is a thin membrane that covers the lungs and the inside of the chest cavity.

This membrane functions as a lubricant to make it easier for the lungs to move smoothly when we breathe. That’s why this membrane is a little runny or “wet”. However, if the pleura is too wet or excess fluid, it will certainly cause a number of symptoms.
