La Palma is a popular tourist destination, but the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano began on 19 September. The volcano was last active in 1971, according to foreign media.
As early as a few days ago, ashes fell to the ground, partially limiting the airport’s activities, and anyone who wants to see the volcano is invited to wear goggles and headgear. On some days, visitors to the island even had to wear gas masks.
Visitors go to see the volcano both day and night, and at night the view is more spectacular, and local guides have created special tours.
At the same time, many residents of the island have had to be evacuated, and police are guarding about 8,000 buildings from robbers. A drone has been circling above the volcano for several weeks, sending informationSpanish security and information services as to whether further evacuation is required. To date, about 2,000 private homes and businesses have been ruined by the volcanic eruption.
