In a statement released today, the presidency of the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP) expressed concern over the serious repercussions of the latest presidential decision of September 22, 2021 on the salary freeze of deputies and their parliamentary assistants. .
The Presidency of the Parliament thus pointed out the suspension of the advantages granted to the latter such as social security and access to care.
According to the same source, this decision constitutes a violation of article 80 of the Constitution.
Emphasizing the difficult situation of parliamentary assistants because of the “illegitimate” decisions that have been implemented, the ARP presidency expressed its solidarity with MPs Hajer Bouhlel and Mustapha Ben Ahmed.
“The rights of deputies are protected by law and the Constitution” reads the same press release.
The Presidency of the Parliament added that the deputies are ready to lead all battles to preserve the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.
