The municipality will expand the park, the housing association offers 10,000 kroner for the plot

Today, the housing association in the Old Town uses the property for parking. Oslo Municipality believes it is not worth anything.

Bjørn Godøy and Kjersti Fullu both moved into the small apartment building behind Oslo prison 16 years ago. The housing association is now losing 157 square meters of its plot, which they currently use for parking, among other things.

Klosterenga is Oslo municipality’s largest outdoor art project since Vigelandsparken. Here, in the park behind Oslo prison, Bård Breivik’s sculpture park will be completed after several decades. The project will cost around NOK 150 million. The zoning plan was adopted in 2015. The excavation work started this autumn.

But the green areas will also be expanded a bit. Several apartment buildings have to give up parts of their plot. Either the areas are redeemed through voluntary agreements, or the municipality goes to court and buys them by force (expropriation).
