As a way of calling for awareness in Breast Cancer Prevention Month is that the Centro Administrativo Regional building, located in the upper part of Puerto Montt, was lit up in pink to reflect and make a call to the women of the region to perform the self-examination and mammography during this month of October.
Let us remember that breast cancer is one of the main causes of death among women, therefore the authorities headed by the Regional Presidential Delegate, Carlos Geisse, emphasized the importance of being very aware of this disease.
“Within the framework of Breast Cancer Prevention Month, we call on all women to undergo self-examination and mammography, it is very important to prevent this disease, which has very high rates in our country,” said the Presidential Delegate.
For its part, the seremi for Women and Gender Equity, Viviana Sanhueza pointed out that “in Chile, breast cancer is the leading cause of oncological death in women, every 3 hours a woman is diagnosed with this disease and every day 3 women die from this cause. In the month of the prevention of breast cancer, as the Seremía de la Mujer y Equidad de Gender of the Los Lagos Region, we call on society to become aware of and have a mammography examination done in a timely manner. “
