There are now 1,511 covid patients in Belgian hospitals. That is an increase of 36 percent compared to the week before and the highest number since May 25. 276 patients require intensive care, an increase of 10 percent.

In the period from October 20 to 26, an average of 6,535 people tested positive for the corona virus every day. That is 62 percent more than the previous seven-day period. The number of daily hospital admissions also continues to increase with an average of 135.4 admissions on a daily basis between 23 and 29 October (+32 percent).
Between October 20 and 26, an average of 17.4 people per day succumbed to the effects of Covid-19, an increase of 33 percent.
The increase in the number of recorded infections can be partly explained by the increase in the number of tests taken to 70,800 (+31 percent). The positivity ratio continues to rise to 9.2 percent (+1.7 percent). In contrast, the reproduction number decreases slightly to 1.22 (-12 percent).
Due to the continuing increase, many hospitals are gradually losing their minds.
