Under the influence of a Dieselgate type investigation like the Volkswagen group, Stellantis will, in turn, have to pay a tidy sum to the United States.

Long years after the scandal of the Dieselgate, the case continues to make waves. Recently, Volkswagen was put on a new business in Austria, and was questioned by the European Commission who wants the brand to compensate its customers. But while Volkswagen was the group that broke the case, many manufacturers have also been implicated in rigged emissions scandals.
Over a billion dollars in fines!
Today, it is Stellantis who is talking about him. In particular, it is theformer FCA group, involved in the United States via the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and RAM brands, which is involved in a long legal process… And which should pay heavy fines for having rigged emissions tests on around 100,000 diesel cars and trucks.
According to a source contacted by Reuters, the case should soon be concluded with an “amicable” arrangement with American courts. The whole thing should cost between 250 and 300 million dollars to the group, or up to 260 million euros. This tidy sum would then be added to the 800 million dollars (690 million euros) paid in compensation to aggrieved customers and to various private parties in 2019.
In short, a total that approaching a billion euros for Stellantis. Heavy fine, but ultimately far from the sums paid by the Volkswagen group, which had to pay $ 2.8 billion (2.4 billion euros) at his trial, then several billion dollars in compensation. But the German group had been involved in nearly 600,000 illegal diesel cars.
