Links in Instagram stories accessible to all users

The function of adding hyperlinks reserved for verified accounts or with at least ten thousand followers is now accessible to any user on the social network.

The social network Instagram made available, on Wednesday, access to any account of the “sticker” link that allows any user, regardless of the number of followers, to add links to other sites in the stories.

“Today, we’re expanding the ability to add links in stories to all accounts. Over the years, companies, creators and change agents have shown how sharing resources and information can inspire their communities. from equity, social justice and mental well-being to introducing new product launches to customers, sharing links is useful in many ways,” he wrote Max Eulenstein, product co-manager of the social network, on the platform’s blog.

The company, led by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, does however leave a warning: accounts that spread disinformation or hate speech, among other content that violates community guidelines, will not have access to the sticker.

Since August 30, users of the social network Instagram no longer need to swipe up the screen to access a link. The functionality is now available via a “sticker”. The decision to end the famous “swipe-up” was not, however, consensual among content creators.

At the time, Vishal Shah, the platform’s former head of product, claimed that the stickers fit better with the way people use the web today.

Earlier this month, the social network had already made other updates, such as organizing the feed and IGTV videos in a single tab, renamed “Instagram Video”.
