– I felt this in my stomach. I can smell the powder of the stones that have fallen, says Svein Tore Edland from the car at Lovraeidet in Suldal around 10.30 on Thursday. He was the first to arrive at the crash site.

He lives in Sand, and took the chance to drive the national road today because he was going to have a job meeting in Stavanger. The landslide crossed the road just before he arrived at the scene.

Heavy boulders are located over Sandsveien by Indre Ryfylkevei.

– I was really scared, yes. This would not have gone well if the boulders had fallen on a car, he says.

Vegtrafikksentralen reports that national road 13 is closed at Lovraeidet in Suldal due to the rock slide. The landslide has occurred at Sandsveien at the intersection of Indre Ryfylkevei.

Crews from Sand have moved out, and around 11 o’clock both the fire brigade and an ambulance are on site. The road is blocked and drivers must find other driving routes.

Worried about the rain

– I usually look up the mountainside when I drive here. I saw that several stones were in the fuses, and then I became extra careful. I would assume that all the rain has something to say here, says Edland.

No cars or people affected by the landslide are reported.

– I have never seen such a landslide, and these boulders are an enormous number of tons, says Edland.

The case is being updated.

Fire and rescue have secured the crash site.
