Frankfurt / Main (AP) – Hansi Flick will nominate his squad for the last two international matches of the year on November 5th. This was announced by the German Football Association.
Since the national team has already qualified for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, the national coach could possibly do without some regulars in the games against Liechtenstein on November 11 in Wolfsburg and three days later in Armenia. It is still unclear whether Flick will appoint Dortmund central defender Mats Hummels for the first time in his tenure.
Stadium tour
Before the meeting of the DFB team on November 8th in Wolfsburg, Flick and his assistants will again do an intensive tour of the Bundesliga stadiums. Flick will watch TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s game against Hertha BSC on Friday and FC Bayern Munich’s appearance at Union Berlin on Saturday. Together with assistant coach Danny Röhl, the national coach is at the Champions League games of VfL Wolfsburg against RB Salzburg (November 2nd) and RB Leipzig against Paris Saint-Germain (November 3rd).
The entire coaching team around Flick, Röhl, assistant coach Marcus Sorg and special coach Mads Buttgereit will watch Hertha BSC’s Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen on November 7th, one day before the start of the last international match week in 2022.
At the end of the international season, the Nations League draw is due for Flick on December 16 in Montreux. There, the DFB head coach will find out about the three opponents against whom the national team will play twice in the run-up to the World Cup next June and September. The international match year 2022 starts with probably two friendly matches in March.
