The nurse has already been dismissed – the LKA and the public prosecutor’s office have started the investigation.
“In the coming days and weeks we will contact all families specifically who are specifically affected,” said the hospital. “Retention samples from the newborn screening of the maternity ward are also evaluated.”
Some families have already been written to and invited for a follow-up examination.
The laboratory examination of the blood samples in the newborn screening is used for the early detection of diseases in infants in the first days of life.
Why the employee apparently took her own blood for this and not that of the babies – completely unclear.
