Buying Long Distance KAI Tickets Must Use NIK Starting Tomorrow

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

PT KAI (Persero) will enforce the use of the Population Identification Number (I) for passengers who will buy tickets train long distance starting Tuesday (26/10).

KAI Operational Area (Daop) 1 Jakarta reminded that this policy applies at Gambir Station, Pasar Senen, Bekasi, Cikampek, and Karawang for both adult and child passengers.

Meanwhile, foreign citizens (WNA) passengers are required to use the identity number listed in the passport.

For customers of the KAI Access membership program and customers who have the right to reduced rates but have not used their NIK, they are requested to immediately update the data.

“The data update process can be carried out through the station counter, the KAI Access application and the station’s customer service,” said Eva Chairunisa in an official statement, Monday (25/10).

This rule is enforced in an effort to validate the vaccine status of passengers. KAI has also integrated the PeduliLindung application with the train departure system. Thus, all stages of verification can be carried out at the time of departure.

Previously, the NIK had also begun to be applied to local train ticket reservations starting August 31, 2021. KAI guarantees that it will fully refund ticket costs if passengers cancel departing because they do not meet existing health requirements.
