When it is not possible to carry out professional dry cleaning of the interior, you can clean the car inside yourself. How to do this, what tools and equipment to use so as not to damage the upholstery, and other interior details – read below.
1) Preparation: Cleaning and Vacuuming
First of all, it is necessary to remove large debris and all foreign objects in the salon. Also, remove the floor mats from the car and place them aside. Vacuum surfaces to remove debris and dust. To do this, it is convenient to use a special car vacuum cleaner. It works wirelessly and can be stored in the auto at all times. Use a soft-bristled brush to make cleaning with a vacuum cleaner more efficient.
2) Washing Plastic Interior Parts
The plastic in the cabin collects a lot of dust and stains. To get started, vacuum the dashboard, console, and doors with a soft bristle nozzle. It is difficult to clean the dashboard due to the abundance of switches, buttons, and other small parts. Here a brush with a long bristle will come to the rescue of the vacuum cleaner. The brush is also useful when cleaning the ventilation flaps. You can use the mobile car wash for sale to perform all these tasks. Make sure that when cleaning the dashboard, there is no excess fluid that can leak into gaps or buttons. After washing, carefully wipe all plastic parts dry.
3) Cleaning the Seats and Door Upholstery
This stage of cleaning the interior depends entirely on the upholstery – it can be made of fabric, natural or artificial leather, or Alcantara. As a rule, door upholstery is made of the same material. Let’s consider how to clean each of them:
- Textiles – vacuum the seats thoroughly, not forgetting about the joints between the backs and the seats. The next step is to apply the fabric cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions. To remove difficult stains, you will have to use a steam cleaner, tornador, or extractor.
- Leather upholstery is less susceptible to staining but more susceptible to abrasion, so it must be treated with extreme care. It is best to clean these seats with special shampoos and emulsions – apply them according to the instructions, and then wipe with microfiber.
- When cleaning Alcantara seats, it is undesirable to use steam, as well as actively rub the upholstery (this will ruin the texture). It is best to clean such a coating with a regular vacuum cleaner or soft brush, and then just process it with a damp (not wet!) towel.
Cleaning the Floor and Rugs
Floor cleaning also depends on the material from which it is made. Some models have a dense woven material on the floor, which looks like a carpet, but does not have a nap – a lot of dirt and dust penetrate into such a covering, which is difficult to clean. Use a brush and a vacuum cleaner with different attachments for cleaning the floor to get to all hard-to-reach places. Then apply a special cleaner – it will weaken the adhesion of the coating and dirt, after which it can be removed with the brush.
