List of Southeast Asian Countries That Relax Entry Rules

A number of countries in southeast Asia began to relax entry rules for travelers. The easing was carried out following a decline in positive cases covid-19 globally recently.

1. Singapore

Singapore will start allowing tourists from six countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, to enter the lion’s land starting Wednesday (27/10).

Singapore’s Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said the situation in these countries had stabilized in recent times.

So, he said, the strict rules that had been preventing travelers from these countries from visiting Singapore no longer needed to be enforced.

However, Ong Ye said the provision did not apply to short -term visitors, with a 14 -day travel history to Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Tourists from these countries will be subject to the most stringent border actions.

2. Thailand

Thailand will allow tourists from 46 countries to enter without quarantine starting November 1, 2021. However, those travelers must have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

This was announced by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha on Thursday (21/10).

“We need to move faster than that and do it now. Waiting for everything to be perfect will be too late,” Prayut wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.

Apart from the United States, Britain and China, vaccinated tourists from a number of European countries including France and Germany will be allowed in. They must also show a negative RT-PCR test result.

Then, tourists from Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong were included in the “low risk” list, as well as Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.

3. Malaysia

After more than a year closing its doors to workers from abroad due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysia will allow foreign workers to enter in the near future.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the agreement was taken at a meeting of the Covid-19 task force on Friday (22/10).

“The Special Committee for Pandemic Management today agreed on a proposed standard operating procedure for permits for foreign workers to enter Malaysia, especially to meet plantation needs,” said Ismail, as quoted by Reuters.

4. Indonesia

In addition to these three countries, Indonesia has also relaxed entry for travelers. Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has officially opened international flights for foreign tourists aka foreign tourists since Thursday (14/10).

“According to the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Jokowi), we have given permission to 19 countries to be able to travel to Bali and the Riau Islands,” Luhut said in an official statement, Wednesday (13/10).

Luhut detailed that the 19 countries permitted were Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Liechtenstein, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Hungary. , and Norway.
