AZERBAIJAN TIMUR, KOMPAS.TV – A governor in Iran was slapped in the face by an unknown person while giving a speech on stage.
The new governor of East Azerbaijan Province, Zeinolabedin Khorram, was giving a speech at the Imam Khomeini Mosque northeast of Tabriz, Saturday (10/23/2021) when the incident occurred.
In a video posted online by the News Agency Fars, an unknown man is seen walking towards Khorram.
Suddenly he slapped Khorram’s face and pushed him away.

The security guards then ran after the perpetrator and pulled him back from the stage.
As quoted from CNNThe perpetrator of the slapping was Ayoub Alizadeh, a member of the Iranian armed forces.
In an interview with an Iranian TV station, IRIBKhorram admitted that he did not know the perpetrator of the slapping.
The motive for the attack is currently still unclear.
But according to Khorram, the assailant told police he slapped him out of disappointment after his wife was vaccinated against Covid-19 by a man, not a woman.
