According to French RMC Sport, this was part of a larger demonstration against St. Etienne coach Claude Puel, which fans are not particularly happy with.
Before the match, there were also banners outside the arena with the inscription: “You get 24 hours to quit your job”.
St. Etienne has had a weak start to the season in Ligue 1 and is at the very bottom of the table before Friday’s home meeting with Angers.
The old big club has only collected four points in the first 10 games.
This joins the ranks of several non-sporting events in Ligue 1 this season. In several matches this autumn, there have been tribune quarrels in the French league.
