Regarding vaccination, Giammattei said that getting vaccinated is a personal act and is not mandatory and pointed out that many believe social networks and what some people say “and believe wrong.”
He stressed that in the departments where there is a vaccination record above 50% or 60%, deaths from the pandemic have decreased to one or two cases a day.
Again he affirmed that there are vaccines, people who also give vaccines, but what “we need are arms.”
He recalled that a few months ago “everyone said there were no vaccines, today we have plenty of vaccines, we have enough vaccines, but we need people.”
The dry law
He stressed that to have events people have to be vaccinated and “we need to open the dry hour, because I know that many like the waype, to open it before 9 at night we need people to be vaccinated.”
“Waype” is associated in Guatemala with the word “guaro” to refer to an alcoholic beverage.
He added: “If we reach 9 million people -vaccinated- we will raise the hour from 9 to 10, if we reach 10 million vaccinated we will go from 10 to 11 and if we exceed 11 million vaccinated we will open it at 12 at night, because it will be safe for people to go to the places more calmly and we will be able to allow people to go to the stadiums, to have people present, all this is won with vaccination ”.
He highlighted that we exceeded 8 million vaccines applied. He added that there are 5 million 160 thousand 667 people with first doses and 3 million 105 thousand 377 with second doses, which makes a total of 8 million 266 thousand 44.
“Let’s reach 9 -million vaccinated-, the incentive is that the dry hour passes from 9 to 10, so ask him, so that we can have the incentive to be able to open the spaces as we progress in the vaccination”, manifested.
Back to school and Covax
“If God allows us in the next few weeks that Covax complies, because it is a United Nations mechanism that I already said the other day, it is the same as Ambrosio’s Carbine”, said the president when referring to the 2.5 million ” vaccines that we already buy ”to vaccinate minors from 12 to 17 years old.
He added that the goal is for 1.4 million minors to be vaccinated with both doses by February 15, 2022. The vaccination would be between November and the first fortnight of February for the return to the classrooms.
High positivity in Izabal
He said that Izabal is concerned about the number of cases he still has and the only way to reduce it is through vaccination. “Izabal is above 20% positivity,” he said.
He added that most departments are below 15% or 10% positivity.
He asked the mayors to duplicate their efforts, because according to him, all state institutions support to achieve the highest amount of vaccination.
He stated that Izabal has the challenge of increasing vaccination to get out of 16th place nationwide.
“You don’t die from getting the vaccine, you die from missing the vaccine, it doesn’t cause infertility, so you can rest assured,” he said.
Giammattei added that the United States on Wednesday, October 20, decreased from alert four, which is the maximum, to alert three for American citizens so that they can come to Guatemala due to the decrease in cases and the number of vaccinated.
