Earlier this month, players got the chance to try out the new Specialist system Battlefield 2042. The reactions after the beta test were quite negative, but according to EA it was only because the players did not have enough information to form a complete picture.
In a longer blog post on its website, DICE acknowledges that players are concerned that the Specialist system makes it more difficult to work together as a team. However, the team believes that perception was a result of the user interface, not the specialists themselves.

– We admit that several improvements to the user interface, such as distinguishing between friend and foe, the ping system and communication between teammates – things that were missing in the open beta – are critical when playing together as a team.
In the blog, DICE goes through a number of things that will be in place in the full version. The developer promises, among other things, the possibility to open a larger map, a proper system for asking for help and communicating with teammates and a better ping system.
Furthermore, DICE points out that players were not allowed to see the specialists at their best, as all ten were not available during the beta test. The developer therefore unveiled the remaining five specialists, which you can learn more about in the video above.
Otherwise, a number of errors and omissions must be fixed since the beta period. For example, you should no longer end up with servers that are overcrowded by bots – computer-controlled opponents – or that are outside the player’s region.
Battlefield 2042 slippes 19. november, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One og Xbox Series X/S.
