At this stage of the season there are many teams that do not develop their cars because the technical offices are fully involved in the definition and construction of the 2022 cars, so it arouses a certain curiosity when you see news, especially on the F1 of the smaller teams.
Alfa Romeo in Austin, which is a highly loaded track, brought a modified front wing in the additional flaps: the technicians led by Jan Monchaux worked on the aerodynamic level in particular on the last two elements which have a very square shape.
If in the outermost portion of the flap, the one close to the side bulkhead, there is a particularly unloaded design to favor the out wash effect, i.e. the passage of flows outside the front wheel, in the innermost part it turns out that the lanceolate tip is not flat, but takes on a curious three-dimensional shape: it starts with a vertical wall that has never been seen before and turns into a very twisted T, right where the infamous Y-250 vortex is generated.
A similar concept, but much less pushed, can also be seen in the second flap.
It will be interesting to follow the behavior of the C41, a car with good mechanical characteristics that could do well in the United States GP.
