The Jablonec footballers drew 2: 2 with Randers in the third match of the European Conference League group and were not the only Czech representatives to lose in European competitions today. However, reaching for the win, the Danish team equalized in the last minute from the penalty. Both home goals were scored by Tomáš Čvančara, Stephen Odey scored twice for the guests.
After an absence from the league, the number one Hanuš returned to the goal of Jablonec, who managed to heal the injured shoulder. Doležal and Čvančara joined the attack unconventionally together. Houska’s midfielder was missing due to health problems.
Both teams played offensively from the beginning. Goalkeeper Randers Carlgren fired Čvančar’s shot up close. Hanuš, on the other hand, ran into the side net. In the 30th minute, the North Bohemians were lucky when Odey hit the bar with a technical shot.
Five minutes later, the home team opened the score. Považanec took Brock-Madsen from the missing ball, found Čvančara with the ground center and he beat Carlgren with his heel.
But the Randers players equalized in less than a minute. After a bad agreement between Hanuš and the head Kubista, the ball fell to Odeya, who easily ended up close to an open goal.
Just before the break, the visiting Marxen aimed his head at the pole of his own goal after Pleštil’s center.
At the beginning of the second half, Čvančar relaxed and also wiped his shot with a stick. The twenty-one-year striker received a second goal in the 53rd minute when he took advantage of Krob’s corner kick. Goalkeeper Carlgren pulled the ball behind the line.
After the change of parties, the people of Jablonec had a clear advantage. Krob could have put his team up another goal 69 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Later, Carlgren neutralized another blow to Považanek.
Shortly before the end, the loser of the match Kubista played in the hand of the penalty area and Odey turned the ordered penalty. The North Bohemian team stretched the series without winning a competition for five matches.
The North Bohemians are still second in the table of group D with four points. The leader Alkmaar has seven points after winning 1-0 in Cluj. Randers is on three points, the Romanian team has scored a single point. Coach Petr Rada’s charges will play at Randers Stadium in the next EKL match in two weeks.
