Many study program heads have violated the Independent Learning-Independence Campus issue (MBKM). As stated by the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim.
In the MBKM program, students are given 20 credits of recognition. This program is the same as studying for one semester. Then, the value of 20 credits will be converted to existing courses.
“My request is for several things, the first is from the rectors. There are still many heads of study programs who violate the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology. The Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture has issued a lot of study program heads and deans who violate our regulations,” said Nadiem in his remarks at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Thursday (21/10/2021).
Nadiem explained that what is meant by violation is that students are not given full 20 credits when participating MBKM. He also often receives these complaints from students who are not given 20 credits, on the grounds that they do not match the study program.
“I’m half angry, half want to laugh. Because it’s clear the head of the study program or the dean didn’t read the policy. There are 3 semesters outside the study program, how come this must be connected with the study program. The policy is 3 semesters outside the study program, 2 of the 3 semesters can be taken off campus,” he said.
Actually, continued Nadiem, in MBKM which is allowed for 3 semesters outside the study program. This means that it does not have to match the student’s study program. It is precisely this MBKM program to seek knowledge in different disciplines.
“So, I ask the chancellor to solve this, communicate it to every dean and head of the study program. No matter what study program he wants, whatever program he wants, when he enters one of the programs that have been selected by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology has been curated, automatically 20 credits. You don’t have to think anymore. , already 20 credits,” he explained.
