With a wide-ranging day of action against child pornography, the police and the judiciary wanted to “send a clear signal to the perpetrators” in all of Lower Franconia on Wednesday. According to her, 26 apartments and houses were searched in the entire administrative district. The investigators secured extensive evidence, write the Bamberg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower Franconia Police Headquarters in a joint press release.
Suspects at large
Accordingly, the raid took place in ten objects in the Würzburg / Main-Spessart region, in nine objects in the Aschaffenburg / Untermain region and in seven objects in the Schweinfurt / Main-Rhön region. The suspects arrested during the searches were released after the police measures had been completed, the statement said. The evaluation of the extensive seized evidence will now take some time.
Mother resisted
During a search on the Lower Main, the mother of a suspect showed no understanding of the measures and resisted the police officers. They are now facing a preliminary investigation into resistance to law enforcement officers. In another case, the officers found a small amount of narcotics, according to police headquarters.
The reason for the raid is the continuously increasing number of cases in the field of child pornography. Lower Franconia is in the federal trend. Compared to 2018, with a total of 225 criminal offenses, 541 cases were registered in 2020. “The trend for the year 2021 is still clearly upwards and behind each of the cases there are victims and fates,” says the press release.
