Triple negative breast cancer alone accounts for 15% of all cases of breast cancer and is an invasive breast cancer, meaning cancer cells have grown outside of their area of origin and have begun to spread rapidly to surrounding breast tissue.
This strain is classified as triple negative because it lacks the three proteins normally found in breast cancer cells: estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors.

Explained by Cancer Expert Prof. Dr. dr. Ami Ashariati, SpPD-KHOM, FINASIM, many millennial women experience triple negative breast cancer. Early detection is critical to the success of healing.
“The earlier it is found and treated, triple negative breast cancer patients have a survival rate of above 95% within 5 years,” he said at a health webinar initiated by the Indonesian Cancer Foundation and MDS, Thursday (21/10/2021).
Speaking of risk factors for triple negative breast cancer, according to Prof. Ami, this is not much different from the risk factors for other types of breast cancer. Call it a matter of family genetics.
“If there is a family (brother, sister, or mother) who has breast cancer, this has a 4-fold higher risk,” he added.
