Researchers from the European Space Agency (ESA) are conducting an experiment in Delft to determine whether plastic can be detected in the ocean using satellites from space. At the Deltares technological institute on Boussinesqweg, they are simulating the situation with pieces of plastic in a ‘swimming pool’ in which waves can be created. TU Delft is also participating in this experiment.
