Newcastle United officially not handled Steve Bruce again. The Toon announced that they had parted ways with the 60-year-old manager.
Steve Bruce and Newcastle United officially parted ways, Wednesday (20/10/2021) afternoon WIB, 13 days after the club’s acquisition by Prince Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman. The farewell came just after Bruce had made his 1,000th game as manager, with Newcastle losing 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Rumors of a change of manager at Newcastle United were widely circulated after the arrival of the new owner. Newcastle was officially bought by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) on October 7 for 300 million pounds.
With massive financial support from Saudi Arabia, Newcastle expected to rebuild the club massively. For the record, PIF manages assets with a value of more than Rp 6,000 trillion.
“Newcastle United can confirm that Steve Bruce has left his position as head coach by mutual agreement,” said a Newcastle United statement.
“She is leaving The Magpies after more than two years in charge, led the club to 13th and 12th Premier League finishes and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his spell.”
“Newcastle United would like to thank Steve for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future.”
A number of names have been linked with the Newcastle manager position. Among them are Antonio Conte, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, to the latest Paulo Fonseca.
