Honolulu Two months ago, the Hawaiian governor asked travelers to avoid the vacation island. At that time, the number of new infections increased significantly and the hospitals were overloaded.
The US state of Hawaii welcomes vacationers and business travelers again from November 1st. Governor David Ige said Tuesday that the number of cases and hospitalization rates allowed the move. Since the end of August, the seven-day incidence on the islands has decreased from 900 to 117 most recently.

“I think we are all encouraged by what we have seen over the past few weeks, which is the continuing trend towards lower case numbers,” said Ige at a ceremony to mark the opening of a new airport facility in Kailua-Kona. “Our hospitals are doing better and we have fewer corona patients.” The health system worked and the economic recovery can now move forward.

Two months ago the governor had asked travelers to avoid Hawaii. At that time, the number of new infections increased significantly and the hospitals were overloaded. Ige’s appeal was just an invitation, but thousands of travelers canceled a visit to Hawaii. To avoid a 10-day quarantine on arrival, travelers are required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative corona test performed within 72 hours of their departure.
