MANY people wonder about whether or not it is safe to accept flu vaccine after Covid-19 vaccine. When flu season comes, especially in the United States they usually do a vaccine for the flu. However, the majority of Americans are just about to undergo the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 booster vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website revealed that the flu vaccine and the Covid-19 vaccine can be given simultaneously because they do not have a negative impact on the immune response produced by both.
However, the health agency recommends injecting the vaccine in a different area from the flu vaccine. At least 1 inch apart to differentiate between local reactions.
“Obviously, if someone is having a worrying apprehension, they can do both vaccines at different times,” said Dr Aaron Glatt, head of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai South Nassau.

According to Dr. Fred Davis, associate chair of emergency medicine at Northwell Health on Long Island, there is no research evidence that giving the two vaccines together will increase the potential for side effects. It’s just that the most common side effect felt is pain in the arm due to the injection.
“I feel a little tired, but no more so than I did with the second shot of the COVID vaccine,” said a US resident who had both vaccines at the same time.
The flu prevention measures are the same as for COVID, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, and practicing hand hygiene.
Denise Walsh, dean of the school of health and nursing professions and chief global health officer at Long Island University, reiterates that vaccination doesn’t mean you won’t catch the virus.
“Doing the flu vaccine is the best protection against flu so that complications are not potentially serious, just as the Covid-19 vaccine is also done as a prevention of side effects from getting too severe,” the CDC said on its website.
