Relatives of Ruud ten Wolde sat at the table at Jinek last night. It should have been a special day for Ruud, who would have liked to sit at the table to talk about his book ‘Sick Happy’, which he wrote about his life with cancer. He died last week from the effects of that illness.
‘Dearest brother’
“It was much bigger and more loving than we actually thought,” said Fleur ten Wolde, Ruud’s sister, about the funeral. “We knew that Ruud was the sweetest brother ever, but I think that everyone sees him like this.”

Ruud told his sister Anne at the table that they actually did not know who all knew Ruud. They decided to send a message asking if they missed anyone. “We received about fifty personal messages from people who wanted to say goodbye to him.”

‘Very great loss’
Ruud’s lover, Jeannot Peijen, told how he feels different every day. In the past few days he was alternately angry and sad. “Now I feel numb,” said Peijen. This is mainly due to all the media attention, which he finds ‘great’ but also overwhelming.
“Ruud had the magic to touch everyone,” said Peijen. “I think it is a very big loss for everyone.”
