The Bordeaux of the Kings of England (12th – 15th centuries) / review the conference

This conference was offered by the Friends of the Musée d’Aquitaine, Bordeaux Patrimoine Mondial and the Musée d’Aquitaine.

United politically with the crown of England since Eleanor of Aquitaine, the Duchy of Aquitaine remained faithful to this union for 300 years. Bordeaux, its political and administrative capital, is also the export port for the region’s wines. Neither English nor entirely French, the Gascons of the duchy defended this union, which was definitively broken up in 1453.

By Guilhem Pépin, Doctor of History, University of Oxford.
