(Belga) There are already 914 COVID patients in Belgian hospitals, 229 of whom are in intensive care. This is apparent from the provisional figures on the dashboard of health institute Sciensano on Tuesday.
Between October 12 and 18, an average of 73.3 COVID patients were hospitalized each day, an increase of 29 percent compared to the previous seven days. In the period between 9 and 15 September, an average of 3,010 new infections were registered every day, almost half more (+46 percent) than in the previous week. 1,289,033 people have already been infected with the virus in our country. The number of people who died from the effects of COVID-19 during the same period increased by 14 percent, to an average of 10.7 per day. A total of 25,780 people have been killed. The positivity ratio has risen to 6.4 percent. The reproduction number rose to 1.21. A number above 1 means the epidemic is gaining momentum. Almost 8.7 million Belgians or 75 percent of the population have already received at least one corona jab. More than 8.5 million or 74 percent are fully vaccinated. (Belgium)
